A Forgotten PlayStation Exclusive Would Be Back For Download On PS5 | Games | Entertainment

The return of Twisted Metal is long overdue, and while there have been a few attempts to modernize the auto fighting game, something significant could have been discovered.

Earlier in 2021, it was reported that Lucid Games had been tasked with creating a new and exciting Twisted Metal experience for PS5.

As many fans already know, Lucid Games was the lead developer responsible for bringing Destruction All-Stars to PS5.

The exclusive vehicle combat game continued to receive updates and new content throughout 2021, but could face a much bigger rival soon.

The big difference between the two games is that AllStars was offered as a free PS Plus title, while Twisted Metal would include F2P monetization.

This would open it up to the widest possible audience, although there was no suggestion that Twisted Metal would be available to play on other platforms.

Since the original reports, there has been no official announcement confirming that a new game is coming to PlayStation 5.

However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a change on LinkedIn that may support the return of Twisted Metal.

New information published on a former employee profile of Lucid Games indicates that the studio is working on an “unannounced flagship AAA first-party IP for the PlayStation 5”.

That would fit in with the news that Twisted Metal is set to make a comeback on next-gen consoles, having skipped all the titles featured on PS4.

This new game would also coincide with the launch of a Twisted Metal TV show that apparently works towards a release window in 2023.

The most recent Twisted Metal to release from the main series was Twisted Metal: Black for the PlayStation 2.

This one was re-released for PlayStation 4 in 2015, with the official description: “Check out Twisted Metal: Black for the PS2 system with 1080p rendering and trophies. Additional enhanced features include sharing, remote play, activity feeds, and second screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App.

“They say the mind bends and twists to face life’s horrors…… sometimes the mind bends so much that it breaks in two.

“The best-selling car battle game on PlayStation 2 is now available on PlayStation 4!” In the ultimate contest of wreckage and devastation, Calypso snatched a motley team of applicants straight from the insane asylum.

“As the carnage unfolds, the horrific story behind each of these tortured souls unfolds as well. Slip into their twisted minds and walk out screaming for more.

Sony has yet to confirm that a new Twisted Metal game is in development for the PS5 consoles.
