Digital Entertainment Industry Expert Takes Stake in Looper Insights | Media investment | Business | New

In a coup for the entertainment industry’s connected TV insights provider, former DAZN and Apple executive Ben King has become an investor and adviser to the board of directors of Looper Insights .
King (pictured) has over two decades of experience in the digital distribution of music, games, TV, movies and live sports. He was previously director of subscriptions at DAZN, which became the leading sports OTT service it is today, after a 12-year career in senior roles at Apple in services such as iTunes, the App Store and Apple Music.

Looper Insights uses its proprietary machine learning and smart image recognition technology to track where, when and how every TV show, movie and OTT app is promoted across thousands of digital storefronts on smart TVs, applications, game consoles, streaming boxes and MVPD services. around the world. Content owners and OTT platforms can use the intelligence service to ensure that the right content is served to consumers in the right place at the right time, that distribution agreements are met, to understand the correlation between the features of content and user acquisition and engagement, and to optimize the effectiveness of their merchandising and paid advertising on connected TV platforms.

Early customer platforms and distributors include Amazon Prime Video, Disney, Sony Pictures and NBCU.

Commenting on his new role, King said, “For more than two decades I have been deeply involved in shaping the evolution of entertainment distribution around the world. As video distributors, we have access to unparalleled amounts of data and information to understand how our marketing efforts are driving customer and revenue growth. And yet our most powerful distribution channels – the storefronts of hundreds of connected TV platforms – have arguably remained a black box.

“Understanding what drives subscriber downloads, installs, boots and views and how to grow them has largely been limited to guesswork (and brilliant screenshots). So far. For the first time , Looper Insights helps marketers understand exactly where, when, and how our content is presented to customers across thousands of storefronts in near real-time.And it’s only now that we can really begin to understand the correlation between the sales performance and revenue growth.”

“It is such a privilege to welcome such an experienced and senior industry executive as Ben as an investor,” added Looper Insights CEO Lucas Bertrand. “His astute industry insight and understanding of the challenges facing marketing and distribution teams as entertainment merchandising in an increasingly global and fragmented world, has already proven invaluable to me and the board. From our first conversation, Ben immediately understood the power of the Looper Insights technology platform and our potential paths as we aim to become the go-to provider of connected TV intelligence services for the global streaming industry. entertainment.
