Billed as a thriller, Masoom is set in Punjab and sees Boman as a mysterious father who seems to have a troubled past. The trailer shows 21-year-old Sana Kapoor (Samara Tijori) instantly deciding to visit her estranged family after learning of the mysterious death of her bedridden mother. However, upon arrival, an unease greets her as her father, brother, and extended family seem to be hiding secrets that fuel her suspicions. Once his most beloved child, Sana and her father now seem to have a love-hate relationship as he demands that she leave the house as soon as the rituals are over to prevent him from digging up dirt in the family.

Speaking about his character, Boman said, “I made my long-awaited digital debut with Masoom on Disney+ Hotstar, which created some of my favorite shows this year. The show is a window into a new world for me and helps me reach a wider audience. Playing the father of my daughter Samara was quite difficult because it was intense and gritty. It was fascinating to act alongside new talents like Samara and the extremely talented team. J had the pleasure of watching a young actor chisel his craft and, in a way, that helped me grow too.”

Samara Tijori also shared more details about her character.

“In Masoom, I play a young girl who seeks to find out the truth while everyone around her wishes to leave her buried. Playing this role with a veteran actor like Boman Irani as my on-screen father was a great learning experience. Overall, working with a cast and crew that had so much experience, I grew as a performer and as a person. I really hope audiences enjoy the thrill and the rush that the story will take you through,” she said.

Director Mihir Desai said, “A girl’s hunt for the truth when her whole family tries to hide it is where Masoom’s story begins. His mother’s untimely death becomes a catalyst for breaking through the family secrets. I am happy to have worked with Boman Irani and Samara Tijori, who portray a poignant father-daughter relationship.”

“Masoom” will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on June 17. (ANI)
