Kolkata, Sep 10 (PTI) The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has organized a poster design competition in tribute to director Satyajit Ray.

NFDC Director General Ravinder Bhakar said the competition, which has the theme “One and Only Ray”, celebrates the author’s works.

“He was not just a great director, but a prolific illustrator, writer and music composer – a diverse creative genius. Most of his film posters were designed by Ray himself. This contest is a tribute to its multi-faceted caliber and it commemorates 101 years of his life,” Bhakar told PTI.

“The top three winners will receive prizes, while another 72 will receive certificates of appreciation. All their posters will be exhibited at the 53rd International Indian Film Festival (IFFI),” he added.

The online competition is open to Indian nationals aged 18 and over.

“Creative professionals with knowledge of art, visual communication as well as graphic design and illustration, adept at using digital tools, are eligible to enter the contest,” an NFDC spokesperson said.

“A panel of experts in the field of applied art and digital painting will evaluate the submissions. The winning designer will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the first and second runners-up will receive Rs 75,000 and Rs 50 000, respectively,” he said.

The 53rd IFFI will be held in Goa from November 20-28.

Submissions for the competition will be accepted until September 23.
