Industry Leaders and Esports Elites Gather at Cyberport to Advance the Booming Digital Entertainment Industry
HONG KONG SAR – Media outreach – August 26, 2022 – The inauguration of Cyberport’s annual flagship event, Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum (DELF) took place today at Cyberport, with Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)and Simon Chan, BBS, JP, President of Cyberport as guests of honour. Under the theme “Transcending Entertainment Beyond Reality and Virtuality”, the three-day forum brings together more than 50 foreign and local speakers to share industry insights and delve into future metaverse trends in the entertainment, entertainment, and entertainment sectors. art and sports. The DELF is also introducing a metaverse arena on the Decentraland metaverse platform for the first time, to bring audiences an immersive experience. Over 10 esports tournaments and matches, as well as over 30 gaming experiences spanning metaverse, art tech, and sports tech are showcased to deliver enjoyable, innovative, and immersive digital entertainment experiences. In his introductory remarks, Professor Sun Dong, HKSAR Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry says, “From the beginning, Cyberport has been committed to supporting digital entertainment and esports as one of its three clusters. We have all witnessed exciting developments in recent years: the first-ever gaming unicorn in Hong Kong and e-sports as a medal-winning sport at the Asian Games in Hangzhou next year. Digitization is inevitable to drive our economy towards high-quality development. With the central government’s unwavering support in the National 14th Five-Year Plan and President Xi’s encouraging support for Hong Kong’s I&T development during his recent visit to Hong Kong, this term will strive to intensify efforts to stimulate the development of the digital economy in Hong Kong.
Celebrating the new perspectives brought by the evolution towards Web 3.0, the DELF takes place in a hybrid mode of online and in-person participation. The Main Forum invited more than 50 esteemed industry leaders from notable international and local technology companies, including brands Animoca, Meta, Autodesk, Accenture, Epic Games, The Sandbox and more, to review business strategies. a true integration of digital entertainment and everyday life, and dissect hot topics such as Non-Fungible Token (NFT), Move-to-Earn, branding in the metaverse, ArtTech and Esports. This offers a holistic overview of the next-generation digital entertainment ecosystem, guiding industry practitioners to explore the infinite and boundless metaverse and unlock the myriad of opportunities therein.
More than a complete overview of the industry, the DELF is enriched this year with artistic and sporting elements. The experience zone includes EXPOVERSE, an immersive virtual reality (VR) art gallery tour experience, Digital Cave featuring 8,200 LEDs, Quantum Universe which is an interactive projection that leads participants into the abstract world of space, and the immersive InkCube 3D art experience. These eye-opening art installations are Instagram-worthy, allowing for a moment of relaxation from the hustle and bustle of city life. Additionally, the 5e The Hong Kong Projection Mapping Festival, an annual ArtTech event in the field of STEM education, will exhibit the work of primary and secondary school students from 8 schools to the public at Cyberport 3.
The Experience Zone also features sports-related booths, from Dustland Rider, the world’s first fitness blockchain game, to various technologies designed for sports training in basketball, tennis, shooting and running. automobile, among others. With Dribble Tracker – AI sports coach by V360, real-time analytics for next-gen tennis tournaments and training by eyes3, VAR BOX which is an exciting collection of shooting games in a VR environment, as well as e-boxing or e-cycling Exercises activated by motion sensors, these SportsTech simulations will captivate visitors with unique sensory experiences resulting from the integration of digital entertainment and technology.
The DELF again this year invited students and professional esports players for show matches and selection tournaments. Day 1 competitions include Hong Kong E-Dodgeball Selection Tournament, RoboMaster Youth Championship 2022 (Hong Kong), Yesports University League x Master Duel Tournament (South East Asia), HKDSA Junior Racer Drone Racing Competition 2022, FIFAe Showmatch by HK eFootball Representative Team and Virtual FPV Drone Racing Show Match will be broadcast simultaneously live and online. Esports enthusiasts will find these events unmissable.
Tomorrow’s headline event, APRU MetaGame Conference 2022, hosted by the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), will cover policy discussions on building an inclusive esports ecosystem and next-gen learning. There will be other exciting esports tournaments like Microsoft Interschool Minecraft e-Sport Champions League, SEFHK Invitational Tournament and APRU Rampage Invitational. The DELF workshops and experience zones will remain open until Sunday.
