We’ve heard stories of how actors step into their characters. Upasana Singh has participated in many projects and delivered commendable performances. Gunwant’s character from his upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series, Masum was interesting. Upasana recounts her experience in her own words.
Upasana Singh said, “It’s a very serious role, and for actors to play such characters, they have to get to the bottom of it. I guess for me it wasn’t that difficult because I come from a theater background and I’ve done such roles in the past. Every time I do something like this, I do it with my heart. Masum is a series where I didn’t have to use glycerin. I was so addicted to my dialogues that the tears came on their own, whether it was the foreground or the 7th, because sometimes if there’s a heartbreak scene or something like that, the actors would put glycerin on but with the character of Gunwant, it was different. I could feel this role so much that the tears came on their own, and like I said before, my body doesn’t work on the show, so every time my shot was over or we had a cut, it would take me a while to come to my character, then shake my hand or move my legs to feel them move.
Hotstar Promotions Massum, directed by Mihir Desai and helmed by Gurmmeet Singh as showrunner, is an Indian take on the award-winning Irish series Blood, exploring family ties and deception after the loss of a loved one. The show is produced under the Dreamers & Doers Co. banner, a premium content studio owned by Reliance Entertainment. Joining the main cast will be Manjari Fadnis, Veer Rajwant Singh, Upasana Singh and Manurishi Chaddha among others. The series also includes a moving soundtrack composed by the famous collective Anand Bhaskar.
