Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki this weekend launched the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin to boost entertainment with a commitment to support programs and reforms to ensure that young people Edo realize their full potential.

The newly constructed installation, named after deceased music legend Sir Victor Uwaifo, opened at Edo’s Mega Youth Concert themed “The Guitar Boy Lives On”.

The concert was part of the activities planned for this year’s Alaghodaro Summit.

Obaseki, who noted that his government is committed to taking advantage of the many opportunities in the creative industry to empower more young people in Edo and develop the state’s economy, said the center has facilities to support talent in the state who wanted to produce music, films and other creations. He said, “We are here to start a revolution in entertainment. Edo is about entertainment; Edo is about education; Edo aims to help those interested in entertainment achieve their goals.

“It’s a sound stage to help artists produce music and films; there is an editing suite that will help artists finalize all of their productions.

The governor continued, “In today’s world, you cannot ignore young people. Sixty percent or more of Edo’s population are young people. The purpose of this government is to open up space for you.

“Yesterday we launched Edo’s 30-year development plan and the key elements of the plan are education, technology and entertainment. I want to let you know that your government will not abandon you again.

“We won’t let you down anymore; you won’t need to be frustrated for wanting to leave home to travel outside. We want to make a home of you so that you don’t have any reason to leave home, ”Obaseki promised.

Other attendees at the event included Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu; his wife, Maryann; the Secretary of the Government of Edo State, Osarodion Ogie; The President of the National Assembly of Edo, Marcus Onobun and the Commissioner for Communication and Guidance, Andrew Emwanta, among others.
